Yorkshire and Humber Maths Hub

Yorkshire and the Humber Maths Hub is one of a network of 40 Maths Hubs in England, working together within the Maths Hubs Programme, which began in 2014. The programme is funded by the Department for Education (DfE) and coordinated by the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM).

The Maths Hubs programme brings together all mathematics education professionals in a national network of hubs, each locally led by an outstanding school or college, and working in partnership with neighbouring schools, colleges, universities, CPD providers, maths experts and employers.

Yorkshire and the Humber Maths Hub works with schools (nursery/primary/secondary/post-16), teaching schools and universities across the following regions: Kirklees, Wakefield, Hull, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire.

The lead school is Outwood Grange Academy in Wakefield and the hub leadership team is composed of teachers and leaders from ten different schools across the region. All delivery of professional development is led by NCETM accredited specialists from right across the region.

All of the projects involve teachers developing their knowledge and pedagogy for maths teaching, whilst collaborating with their peers and putting new knowledge to work in their classrooms. Most also aim to influence classroom and collaborative practice that benefits maths teaching and learning across departments or schools.

We aim to harness all maths leadership and expertise within our area, to develop and spread excellent practice, for the benefit of all pupils and students.
