Jerry Clay English Hub – Wakefield

Logo English Hub

Jerry Clay English Hub is one of the 34 DfE English Hubs across the country, and we serve the schools in the Leeds area. We work in partnership with 3 Local Authorities Leeds, Wakefield and Barnsley and meet with LA representatives regularly to support school improvement work in this region. We always want to ensure that all schools are aware of the support and funding they can access through the Jerry Clay English Hub.

Our remit is to support schools to develop Early Reading and Phonics, and to help schools implement their chosen Systematic Synthetic Phonics programme (SSP). This term we have been asked to contact eligible schools to offer them an audit which will then allow them access to up to £6000 of funding that can be used for resources for phonics or for training on your chosen SSP. This audit can also give you the opportunity to access free support from an expert Literacy Specialist, who can work with staff and leaders to further develop your phonics provision again free of charge through the Jerry Clay English Hub.

Jerry Clay has been working with schools for the past 4 years and is one of the most impactful English Hubs in the country, with our partner schools performing significantly above schools nationally. We work supportively and collaboratively with our partners. We are all practising headteachers or leaders in schools and Trusts who fully understand the complexity of working in a challenging primary school setting. We work part-time for the hub alongside our in-school roles meaning we really understand the challenges that many primary schools face.
