A warm welcome to the next generation of school leaders at our NPQ Welcome Event 

Our new cohort of NPQ participants met to celebrate the start of their programmes at The Education Exchange conference centre in Knottingley. Over 300 leaders and aspiring leaders listened to inspirational speeches, met their facilitators and groups, learned more about their programmes, as well as enjoying afternoon tea and cake.  

At the start of the event, they received a formal welcome from the Hub, followed by inspirational speeches from local school and trust leaders. 

Vicky Marks, Principal of New College Pontefract, spoke of her own journey into leadership as well as the growth of New College, and reminded the audience of the transformational power of education in our Hub communities in transforming the lives and opportunities of children and young people.  

Later in the afternoon, Tom Fay, Director of School Improvement for Pontefract Academies Trust, recounted his own leadership experience and reminded participants of the importance of remaining humble and authentic in their leadership, as well as ‘surrounding yourself with people who are better than you,’ to build a truly great team. 

Participants learned lots of useful information about the programme practicalities before saying farewell to their new group and looking forward to the start of programmes.  

As our new programmes begin, we are excited to begin recruiting for our fourth cohort, whose NPQs will begin in February 2023.
