We are proud to provide Appropriate Body services to schools across our hub communities. All schools must appoint an Appropriate Body to ensure that statutory entitlements for Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are met.
As part of this role, we ensure ECTs receive high-quality support and professional development that is evidence-informed and aligned to the Initial Teacher Training and Early Career Framework (ITTECF). This framework outlines what new teachers should know and be able to do, based on expert guidance and leading educational research.
Our Appropriate Body offer draws on the diligence, expertise, and proven practices of our trusted partners, delivering a consistent and high-quality service across the region. By selecting Exchange Teaching Hub as your Appropriate Body, schools gain access to dedicated, specialist support throughout the induction period, supported by a comprehensive handbook and a suite of high-quality materials.
Schools using a provider-led ECT training programme, such as the UCL Institute offer, are not required to complete fidelity checks. However, schools delivering their own programme based on the ITTECF must undergo fidelity checks, which are subject to an additional cost.
Eligible ECTs may be able to complete their induction early, subject to agreement. This option is available only to schools registered with Exchange Teaching Hub as their Appropriate Body.
Schools should review the eligibility criteria and complete the accompanying Microsoft Form to submit a request. Each submission will be reviewed, and the outcome will be communicated directly to the school, along with any necessary next steps.
If a school believes an ECT may qualify for reduced induction due to circumstances not listed in the criteria, they should include additional information in the relevant section of the form.
