Early Career Teacher Programme

Part of the golden thread of professional development, the Early Career Teacher Entitlement supports teachers at the start of their careers with a high-quality, structured two-year programme.

Our Offer

We work with UCL as the lead provider to deliver the DfE-funded Early Career Development Programme, supporting Early Career Teachers (ECTs) in Barnsley, Doncaster, Selby, and Wakefield. 

The programme is designed for all subjects, phases, and contexts and includes: 

  • A two-year, fully funded professional development programme 
  • Training for in-school mentors to support ECTs weekly 
  • A blend of: 
    • Face-to-face training 
    • Online workshops 
    • Self-directed study 
    • Ten modules aligned to the Teachers’ Standards 

The programme deepens key teaching practices developed in ITT and supports both ECTs and mentors in their ongoing professional growth. 

The Ofsted report released in July 2023 rated the quality of the UCL led Early Career Framework (ECF) programme’s professional development and training as outstanding. It also rates the programme’s leadership and management on the same level.
